The Architectural Marvel: How It Was Built

Design Vision

Designed by Thom Mayne of Morphosis Architects, the building itself is a living science lesson. The 180,000-square-foot structure features a distinctive cube that seems to float above the plinth, symbolizing the museum's dedication to exploration and discovery.

Sustainable Construction

Built with sustainability in mind, the museum incorporates recycled materials, a green roof, solar-powered water heating, and rainwater collection systems. The exterior's textured concrete panels were designed to resemble geological stratification, connecting the building to its scientific purpose.

Completion and Opening

The museum opened to the public in Victory Park, becoming an instant architectural icon in Dallas and receiving international acclaim for its innovative design that merges form and function in service of scientific discovery.
